Auschwitz

These drawings were started during a visit to the KL Auschwitz-Birkenau Holocaust memorial. There are ID photos of many working prisoners on display in one of the building. The humanity radiating from these cold utilitarian headshots was undeniable. I later went to the site of the Wansee Conference near Berlin. Photos of the planners of the overall Nazi effort are displayed there in historical context. I drew many of those faces also. My natural drawing style is too cartoonish and basic to do these images justice, but I it was an important project to see through to completion.

Masked

After watching a man react in a rage after being told to wear a mask in a grocery store, I was inspired to make drawings of people in masks. The drawings are on surplus medical forms.
